Public Transit in Maricopa
Public Hearing Regarding Transit in Maricopa
A public hearing regarding the section 5311 Rural Transportation Program grant will be held on Tuesday, February 19, 2008, 7:00 p.m. at the Global Water Facility located at 22590 North Powers Parkway.
The section 5311 grant, an opportunity from the U.S. Federal Department of Transportation, is directly related to providing transit to the residents of Maricopa. The funds from the project being considered will be used to purchase three buses and continue the commuter pilot transit program.
At this hearing, interested persons or agencies will be able to speak in respect to the social, economic and environmental aspects of the project. Oral or written evidence and recommendations with respect to the project may be submitted.
“The City is on the cusp of a successful commuter transit program for its residents,” states Brent Billingsley, transportation director. “Funds from the federal section 5311 grant are crucial to providing the transit service residents need.”
A copy of the grant proposal will be available for public inspection after February 22, 2008 at city hall, 45145 West Madison Avenue.
